-itis
(Greek: a suffix; inflammation, burning sensation; by extension, disease associated with inflammation)
This suffix has come to mean "inflammation of" but originally it meant "pertaining to" or "of the". The Greek word nosos ["disease"] was either expressed or understood, although it might not be included with the basic element. For example, bursitis nosos would mean "disease of the bursa".
paracystitis
Inflammation of the tissues adjacent to a gland: Dr. Smith diagnosed Mary with a condition of paradenitis involving a swelling, redness, and soreness around one of her lymphatic glands.
paraglossitis
Inflammation of the oral tissues under the tongue.
paraglottitis
Inflammation of the muscles and connective tissues under the tongue.

Inflammation of the squamous portion of the temporal bone, from the extension following mastoiditis.

Inflammation of the parotid gland.
Inflammation of the tissues surrounding or around a gland: While Jill was at the doctor's office for an examination, Dr. Dawson discovered a case of periadenitis pertaining to the swelling and soreness encircling one of her glands.

Inflammation centered around a foreign body.
periangitis
1. Inflammation of the outer coat of or the tissues around a blood or lymph vessel.
2. Inflammation of the adventitia (outermost connective tissue covering) of a blood vessel or of the tissues surrounding it or a lymphatic vessel.

periappendicitis
Inflammation of the tissue surrounding the vermiform appendix (wormlike intestinal diverticulum extending from the blind end of the cecum; it varies in length and ends in a blind extremity).
The cecum is a blind pouch-like commencement of the colon in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen at the end of the small intestine.
