Used in medical nomenclature to denote "a surgical fixation" of that which is specified by the combining root.


mastopexy
1. Plastic surgery which is done to lift or to reshape the breasts.
2. Plastic surgery to affix sagging breasts in a more elevated and normal position, often with some improvement in shape.
mesenteriopexy
Fixation or attachment of a torn or incised mesentery (the membranes, or one of the membranes which connect the intestines and their appendages with the dorsal wall of the abdominal cavity).
mesopexy
Fixation or attachment of a torn or incised (cut or broken) mesentery (membranes which connect the intestines and their appendages with the dorsal wall of the abdominal cavity).
nephropexy
The surgical fixation of a floating or mobile kidney.

1. Surgical correction of a detachment of the retina by forming chorioretinal adhesions around the torn part of the retina.
2. A procedure to repair a detached retina by holding it in place; e.g., by producing chorioretinal adhesions by freezing ("retinal cryopexy").
scapulopexy
An operative, or surgical, fixation of the scapula to the chest wall or to the spinous process (dorsal, or back, projection from the center of a vertebral arch) of the vertebrae.
