amphocyte
1. Having an affinity both for acid and for basic dyes; also, amphophilic, amphophilous.
2. A cell that stains readily with either acid or basic dyes.
amphodiplopia
The presence of monocular diplopia in both eyes.
amphogenesis
The ability to have heterosexual relations when one's preference is predominantly homosexual.
amphogenic, amphogenous, amphogeny
1. Producing male and female offspring in approximately equal numbers.
2. A reference to sexual reproduction.
ampholyte
A substance whose molecules bear both positive and negative charges.
ampholytic
Relating to or being an ampholyte.
amphophil (s) (noun), amphophils (pl)
1. Having an affinity both for acid and for basic dyes;amphophilic; amphophilous: Amphophils are those des that are water-soluble.
2. A cell that stains readily with either acid or basic dyes; amphocyte; amphochromatophil; amphochromatophile; amphochromophil; amphochromophile: Such amphophil can stain or color the cells of wool, silk, nylon or the cells of acrylic fibres.
amphoterism
The quality of exhibiting the characteristics of an acid and a base and having the capacity to react either as an acid or a base.
