-ability

(Latin: suffix; expressing ability, capacity, fitness, or "that which may be easily handled or managed")

Just a few examples out of hundreds of words presented as the noun forms of -able; forming nouns of quality from, or corresponding to, adjectives in -able; the quality in an agent that makes an action possible. The suffix -ible has related meanings.

pliability (s) (noun), pliabilities (pl)
The capability of being bendable or flexible: Because of its pliability, Janice loved working with clay and she could form anything with it, like cups, bowls, vases, etc.
portability (noun) (no pl)
1. The capability of an object to be easily carried, moved, or rearranged: The portability of one's traveling bag can be accomplished by making practical arrangements of clothing and other necessities for a trip.
2. The usability of computer programs or equipment that are flexible in function so they can be utilized in a variety of systems or places: Jacob told the computer salesperson that he wanted a laptop because its portability was essential since he would be taking it with him on during his business trips.
3. The transferability of a pension from a regular payment fund to another: When Joe wanted to change jobs, he checked in advance to see if the portability of his wages would be taken care of properly.
potability (s) (noun), potabilities (pl)
That which is fit or suitable for drinking; drinkability: They finally found water which had enough potability for drinking.

The potability of the lemonade was enhanced by ice cubes and a colored straw!

probability (s) (noun), probabilities (pl)
1. The likelihood of something occurring: The probability of the condo having increased in value is assumed since it has been recently renovated.
2. The most plausible or feasible possibility: There is a probability that the coronavirus will continue to affect the economy of the country.
3. A measure of how conceivable it is that some occurrence will take place: The probability of it snowing is about 50%.

realizability (s) (noun) (no pl)
1. The potential of achieving something; manageability: Finally, after saving so much money over the years, Thomas could plan on the realizability of buying a house for his family.
2. Capable of being tangible: The realizability of Jim's property was his greatest asset.
recognizability (s) (noun), recognizabilities (pl)
The quality of being easily aware of something or being known: When learning German for the first time, easy words are taught and used over and over again, producing easy recognizability for the beginners who are learning the language.
reconcilability (s) (noun) (no pl)
The capacity of being compatible or congruent: Reconcilability was restored between the three brothers after they talked over their differences and re-established their friendly relations with each other.
refutability (s) (noun) (no pl)
The capability of anything which can be overthrown, disproved by evidence of falseness, or countervailing proof, such as an argument, an opinion, a testimony, a doctrine, or a theory: Although most people think of swans as being just large white birds, the refutability of that perception is clear because there are also black swans.
reliability (s) (noun), reliabilities (pl)
1. The capacity of being dependable or trustworthy: Over all the years, the old car certainly showed total reliability in that it always started in the morning, even in the winter months.
2. The tendency of a measuring system, test, or observation to be resistant to failure: In the past years, studies have shown that there has been no reliability of it snowing around Christmas time, like it did a decade ago.
repairability (s) (noun), repairabilities (pl)
The possibility of being mended, put back together, renovated: The watchmaker wondered about the repairability of the very old grandfather clock, but he was lucky to be able to restore it to a good working condition again.
reprogrammability (s) (noun) (no pl)
The ability to redraft, edit or alter a computer program: Reprogrammability allows a person to read from and to write data to the tag while that same tag is attached to its object.
respectability (s) (noun), respectabilities (pl)
The quality of being decent, honorable, and upright: Jack and Jill were teachers who possessed the social respectability of the parents of their students and of the townspeople by being honest, fair, reasonable, and dignified.
revealability (s) (noun) (no pl)
The potentiality of being disclosed or made public: There was no doubt that the revealability of Jane's pregnancy was to come about in just a few months!
