dactyloscopist
Someone who specializes in the identification by comparison of fingerprints; and also, who deals with the classifications of fingerprints.
dactyloscopy
1. The use of fingerprint impressions for purposes of identification.
2. The technique of comparing fingerprints, typically those found at the setting of a crime and those of a suspect.

Due to the uniqueness of the fingers' and hands' papillar lines, it is generally considered a reliable method of identifying a person.

dactylose
1. Possessing finger-like processes or being shaped like fingers.
2. Having five appendages or rays.
dactylospasm
1. Vascular spasm or cramp of fingers or toes.
2. The spasmodic contraction of the fingers or toes.
3. A cramp or twitching of the fingers or toes.
dactylosymphysis
A condition in which two or more of the fingers or toes are joined together.

This joining can involve the bones or just the skin between the digits.

dactylotheca
1. The scaly covering of the toes, as in birds.
2. The horny covering on the toes of birds.
dactylozooid (s) (noun), dactylozooids (pl)
1. A polyp with tentacles: A dactylozooid, such as a Physalia physalis or "Portuguese Man-of-War", is a large siphonophore which has a bladderlike float that resembles a jellyfish and lives in warm waters. It has a transparent gas-filled float and long stinging, often poisonous appendages that sting with a neurotoxin.
2. A hydroid modified for catching prey, long, with tentacles or short knobs, with or without a mouth: In Jane's biology book, she read about dactylozooids which have the function of protecting the colony and she was astounded that some such creatures didn't even have an oral cavity!

1. A finger or toe.
2. In certain insects, the second tarsal (foot) segment, after an enlarged first tarsal segment.
didactyl
An animal having only two digits.
didactylism
1. The presence of only two digits on a hand or foot.
2. Congenital condition (at birth) of having two fingers on a hand or two toes on a foot.
didactylous
Having only two digits; such as, being two-toed.
didactyly
Having two digits on each limb.
dodecadactylon
The first part of the small intestine or duodenum.

The duodenum extends from the pylorus (outlet of the stomach) at the bottom of the stomach to the jejunum (part of the small intestine), the second part of the small intestine.

ectrodactylia
The developmental absence of one or more digits (fingers or toes), with the total absence of all parts of a digital ray; that is, metacarpal or metatarsal parts and all phalanges.
