hodophobia (s) (noun), hodophobias (pl)
An irrational hatred of traveling: Whenever Mr. Smithson, suffering from hodophobia, even thought about going on a journey, he experienced an intense anxiety, and so he decided just to stay at home and enjoy his garden.
homalambulophobia (s) (noun), homalambulophobias (pl)
A fear of walking on or of touching smooth surfaces: Homalambulophobia is primarily applicable to those who have lived in a jungle, mountainous areas, or deep forest environments.
homichlophobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
A horror of fog: In the story Jane was reading, the main character, who had homichlophobia, never went outside when his visibility was quite reduced by low-lying mist or haze.
homilophobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
A hatred of sermons: People strongly affected by homilophobia avoid going to church and even talking to others about religious topics or morals.
homophobia (s) (noun), homophobias (pl)
1. An intense apprehension or hatred of homosexuality or homosexuals in general; correctly termed as "homosexualphobia": Homophobia covers a spectrum of negative beliefs, feelings, values, and dispositions towards people who are thought to be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
2. An inordinate aversion of monotony: Jeffrey always wanted to do his everyday chores in a different way in order to avoid the humdrum and sameness everyday, and it became so extreme that he consequently suffered from homophobia!
homophobic (adjective), more homophobic, most homophobic
1. Concerning an abhorrence of boredom: Jackie had homophobic ways of preparing the meals for dinner by using a different recipe each day of the year and never the same meal twice!
2. Relating to an irrational hatred, disapproval, or fear of homosexuality, gay and lesbian people, and their culture: Mrs. Smithson never suffered from a homophobic lifestyle because she was very liberal in her ways.
homosexualphobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
An intense apprehension regarding homosexuals or homosexuality: Due to her homosexualphobia, it was quite difficult for Judy to hold back on her feelings when she saw the lesbians holding hands and kissing at the bus stop.
homosexualphobiac (s) (noun), homosexualphobiacs (pl)
A person who has a strong aversion towards homosexuals or homosexuality: A homosexualphobiac is an individual who is disgusted with and cannot accept the lifestyle of lesbians, gays, bisexuals or transgenders.
hormephobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
An irrational dread of shock, both electrical and emotional: Mrs. Timmons heard the extremely tragic news that her husband had suddenly died in a car accident, and since then she developed a hormephobia, denying any kind of bad news regarding her son or her friends.
hyalinopygophobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
An excessive fear of glass bottoms: Don never understood why anyone having a hyalinopygophobia would dread to see the lowest part or base of a water goblet!
hyalophobia, hyelophobia, nelophobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
A fear of crystal or glass: When Linda cut herself very badly with a broken piece of mirror, she had to go to hospital for an operation, and thereafter she dreaded even getting near anything made of this material and developed hyalophobia.
hydrargyrophobia (s) (noun) (no plural)
A strong aversion of mercurial medicines: Greg read in his biology book that hydrargyrophobia can be caused by a dread of using medicines containing mercury, such as mercury cyanide, because of the toxic effect when taken in larger doses.
hydrophobia (s) (noun), hydrophobias (pl)
1. An peculiar condition which consists of an abnormal fear of water by those who have rabies: Sometimes hydrophobia involves the inability to drink or swallow liquids because of throat constrictions, not a revulsion of the drink itself, which gives the impression that the victims of lyssa are afraid of liquids.

This case of hydrophobia results in a symptom of intense excitement with terror and extreme thirst, but every effort to drink is immediately followed by choking and dyspnea (breathing difficulties) with an elevation of temperature and an increase of the pulse or heart beat.

2. A morbid aversion to water, especially since one could drown in it: Some people who have hydrophobia never go swimming in a pool or even bathe in a bathtub because of the abnormal fear that they will suffocate and die in the water.
