1. A cell from which bone develops or a bone-forming cell, its function is to form the tissue and minerals that give bone its strength.
2. A cell that develops into bone, as during healing.
osteoblastoma
1. A relatively harmless (not dangerous), painful, tumor of bone characterized by areas of osteoid (bonelike) and calcified tissue.

It usually occurs in the spines of young people.

2. A benign tumor in bone tissue.

Osteoblastomas are small, and are seen most frequently in children or young adults.

Symptoms include pain and bone mass reduction and surgical treatment is usually the medical procedure which is used.
