(Greek > Latin: a suffix; actor, process, condition, or state of; result of; expresses a state or abnormal condition or process of some disease)

blepharoptosis
1. The drooping of the upper eyelid resulting from paralysis.
2. Drooping of an upper eyelid because of paralysis.

Causes include aging, diabetes, stroke, Horner's syndrome (nerve condition which involves a dropping eyelid), myasthenia gravis (fatigue of certain voluntary muscle groups), brain tumor or cancer.

botryomycosis
1. A disease of horses and other domestic animals, often occurring after castration, usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus and characterized by the formation of granulomatous masses (chronic inflammatory lesions characterised by large numbers of cells).
2. A chronic granulomatous condition of horses, cattle, swine, and people; usually involving the skin but occasionally also the viscera, and characterised by granules in the pus, consisting of masses of bacteria, generally staphylococci but sometimes other types, surrounded by a hyaline capsule which sometimes exhibits clublike bodies around its periphery.

The anatomic structure of the lesion resembles that of actinomycosis and mycetoma (chronic infection involving the feet).

An abnormal curvature of the arm.
brachiocyrtosis
Crookedness of the upper limb.
bromhidrosis, bromidrosis
1. Sweat that is fetid or offensive due to bacterial decomposition. It occurs mostly on the feet, in the groin, and under the arms.
2. Also called kakidrosis, cacidrosis, fetid sweat, fetid perspiration, osmidrosis, ozochrotia.

Bromhidrosis, or body odor, is caused by bacteria growing on the body. These bacteria multiply considerably in the presence of sweat, but sweat itself is almost totally odorless. Body odor is associated with the hair, feet, crotch (upper medial thigh), anus, skin in general, breasts, armpits, genitals, and pubic hair.

Profuse bromhidrosis. Also known as, bromohyperidrosis.
bullosis diabeticorum (s) (noun)
A disorder of the skin in uncontrolled diabetes mellitus in which bullae appear, usually on the feet and the ankles: "Bullosis diabeticorum is a cutaneous condition characterized by a noninflammatory, spontaneous, painless blister, often in peripheral body parts; such as, the feet, the toes, the hands,the fingers, the ears, or the nose; as seen in diabetic patients."
byssinosis
1. A respiratory disease caused by prolonged inhalation of dust from textile fibers, marked by coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and permanent lung damage.
2. A pulmonary disease seen in cotton textile workers and preparers of flax and soft hemp, due to inhalation of textile dust.
cacidrosis, kakidrosis (s) (noun), cacidroses, kakidroses (pl)
Sweat that is fetid, foul smelling, and offensive as a result of bacterial decomposition which occurs mostly on the feet, in the groin, and under the arms: Despite washing his feet regularly and using a special foot powder, Huck continued to have cacidrosis and was afraid to take off his shoes in the presence of other people because his feet had a terrible odor.
cacomorphosis (s) (noun), cacomorphoses (pl)
A bad form or shape: Due to a poor diet, Ted's son developed a cacomorphosis of his legs making them appear to be bowed and not straight; as, they usually are with normal physical development.
calcicosis
Pneumoconiosis from the inhalation of limestone dust or fibrosis and scarring of the lungs as a result of the repeated inhalation of dust associated with some occupation.
calcinosis
A condition characterized by abnormal deposits of calcium salts in various tissues.

The deposits appear as nodules or plaques and may occur in the skin, connective tissue, muscles, or intervertebral disks.

Usually the nodules occur as a result of a preexisting inflammatory degenerative or neoplastic dermatosis, primarily scleroderma.

calobiosis
A form of symbiosis in which one species becomes temporarily the guest of another.
carcinomatosis
1. A condition resulting from widespread dissemination of carcinoma in multiple sites in various organs or tissues of the body; sometimes it is also used in relation to the involvement of a relatively large region of the body.
2. A condition in which cancer has spread widely throughout the body.
carcinosis
1. A condition characterized by the development of many carcinomas throughout the body.
2. The extensive spread of cancer throughout the body.
