hypoglossitis
Inflammation of the tissue under the tongue.
hypoglottis (high" poh GLAH tis) (s) (noun), hypoglottises (pl)
Located beneath or under the tongue.
hypoglycemia
An abnormally low level of glucose (sugar) in the blood; usually resulting from excessive insulin or a poor diet.

Hypoglycemia may be tolerated by normally healthy people for short periods of time, but if the blood sugar level remains very low for a long time, there are often effects on the brain, with development of mental confusion, hallucinations, convulsions, and eventually deep coma as the nervous system is deprived of the glucose needed for its normal metabolic activities.

Additional conditions can cause hypoglycemia; such as, overproduction of insulin by the pancreas, an overdose of therapeutic insulin, certain types of abdominal or pancreatic tumors, and the deficient production of adrenocortical hormones, especially the glucocorticoids (a steroid hormone that is produced by the adrenal cortex of animals which affects the functioning of the gonads and has an anti-inflammatory activity).

A decreased ingestion or consumption of sweets.
hypognathous
1. Having the lower jaw or mandible longer than or which protrudes beyond the upper jaw.
2. Having a congenitally defectively developed lower jaw or a protruding lower jaw.
hypogonadism
Inadequate gonadal function, as manifested by deficiencies in gametogenesis and/or the secretion of gonadal hormones; results in atrophy or deficient development of secondary sexual characteristics and, when occurring in prepubertal males, in altered body habitus characterized by a short trunk and long limbs.
hypogonadotropic
Indicating inadequate secretion of gonadotropins and its consequences.
hypogynous, hypogyny
Situated below the pistils or ovary; said of the stamens of a flower when these grow on the receptacle and are not united to any other organ; also of plants having the stamens so placed.
hypohidrosis
1. Dimminished or lacking "normal" sweating.
2. Also called: hidroschesis, hyphidrosis, olighidria, oligidria, olighydria, oligohidrosis, hypoidrosis.
hypohidrotic
1. Characterized by diminished sweating.
2. A substance that inhibits sweating.
hypohydremia
hypohypnotic
A reference to incomplete or light slumber.
