Don't confuse this ego with another aego-, ego- which means "goat".

egomaniac (s) (noun), egomaniacs (pl)
1. An abnormally self-centered person.
2. Someone who considers himself or herself to be extremely important and able to do anything that he or she wants to do.

A hostile behavior due to a psychopathically exaggerated sense of self-importance: Patients who are experiencing egopathy are characterized by a strong psychological condition that compels them to deprecate others in their constant aggressive and unconceding attitudes.

Obviously egopathy was rampant at Ted's job because a supervisor was firing people for no good reason or justification.

egosurf (verb), egosurfs; egosurfed; egosurfing
To search the Internet for instances of one's own name or links to one's website: Those who egosurf usually do it in order to gratify their self esteem or admiration.
egosurfer (s) (noun), egosurfers (pl)
Someone who looks on the Internet to see how many places mention that person's name or website. An egosurfer uses a search engine to locate and to read pages with articles and other online content that mentions his or her computer network.

1. In psychology, of or relating to ideas, behaviors, or impulses that are acceptable to oneself.
2. A reference to something that is consistent with an individual's self-image.
ego-syntonic, egosyntonic (adjective), more ego-syntonic, more egosyntonic; most ego-syntonic, most egosyntonic
A reference to something that is consistent or in harmony or acceptable to the needs and objectives of a an individual's self-image: An obsessive-compulsive personality disorder is an egosyntonic condition because the patient generally perceives that his or her obsession with orderliness, perfectionism, and control as reasonable and even desirable.
egotheism (s) (noun), egotheisms (pl)
1. Self-deification or the elevation of oneself to the status of a god: "In a New Age context, Egotheism can mean the deification of oneself or the claim that one has the qualities of God."
2. The deification of man's own conceptions of God, or the belief that man's conception of God is all that men can ever know about God.
egotism (s) (noun), egotisms (pl)
An excessive and objectionable reference to oneself in conversation or writing; conceit; boastfulness: Jane's daughter receives letters from a friend that are filled with overwhelming egotisms about his success as a musician.

Egotism is the inflated perception of regarding oneself more highly than is justified by the facts, of bragging about one’s abilities or achievements, and the too frequent use of “I”.
