(Greek: feeling, sensation, perception; suffering, disease, or disorder; a system of treating diseases)
In medicine, some of these elements usually mean "someone who suffers from a disease of, or one who treats a disease"; so, they should not be confused with the words that mean "feeling" which are also shown on these pages even though both meanings come from the same Greek element.
dermatopathic (adjective) (not comparable)
A reference to a skin disease: Part of Susan's medical research involved dermatopathic studies in which disorders or infections of the skin were examined.
The science of cutaneous disorders: Dermatopathology particularly pertains to the study of skin illnesses and the causes of such skin abnormalities.

The study of diseases that affect the ligaments or tendons: Desmopathology involves the research of abnormalities of the tough fibrous tissues connecting bones or cartilages, or those connecting muscles with bones.

deuteropathic (adjective) (not comparable)
Concerning a sympathetic affection of any region of a body: Jane acquired a headache after eating a large meal at the restaurant, which her doctor told her later was a deuteropathic symptom of indulging in too much food and wine the evening before.
A secondary disease or symptom of a disease that results from another infection in the body: Deuteropathy is an uncommon or outdated term for any abnormality that is secondary to another pathological condition.
1. An outdated medical term meaning the cure or treatment of a disease by refraining from liquids; a thirst cure: The doctor suggested Jack should have medical care, or a dipsopathy remedy, particularly by abstaining from drinking any alcohol.

Descriptive of someone who exhibits antipathy: Adam's neighbor was dyspathetic and very unpleasant, was quite disagreeable, and lacked sympathy and passion.
A situation in which there is a lack of passion or feelings for another person, or people, who have griefs, misfortunes, or troubles: Janice could only have dyspathy for the father who went off and left his son in his car for several hours in the sun which caused the little boy's death.
