1. Referring to something or someone who is graceful; especially, making winding or curving movements: The dancer on TV had many sinuous movements during her performance.
2. Relating to being full of bends and turns: The visitors saw the sinuous course of a stream and so they walked along the side for a long time.
3. Conveying that which is indirect or devious.
Descriptive of a road that is curving in and out and twisting in and out.

sinuousness (s) (noun), sinuousnesses (pl)
A serpentine or wavy form that has curves: A sinuousness is seen to have many curves or turns; such as, a stream or the grace of a dancer.
sinus (s) (noun), sinuses (pl)
1. An air-filled cavity in a dense portion of a skull bone: The sinuses are formed in four right and left pairs: The frontal sinuses are positioned behind the forehead, while the maxillary sinuses are behind the cheeks.

The sphenoid and ethmoid sinuses are deeper in the skull behind the eyes and maxillary sinuses.

The sinuses are lined by mucous-secreting cells. Air enters the sinuses through small opening in bone called ostia. If an ostium is blocked, air cannot pass into the sinus and also the mucous cannot drain out.

2. A channel permitting the passage of blood or lymph fluid that is not a blood or lymphatic vessel; such as, the sinuses of the placenta.
3. Etymology: "abscess, sore", from Middle Latin sinus, from Latin sinus, "bend, fold, curve".
sinusitis (s) (noun), sinusitises (pl)
An inflammation of the sinuses, or a sinus; especially, in the nasal region: Common symptoms include thick nasal mucus, a plugged nose, and facial pain: Other forms of sinusitis may include fever, headaches, a poor sense of smell, a sore throat, and coughs.
sinusoid (s) (noun), sinusoids (pl)
1. A small blood vessel or cavity in the tissue of an organ; such as, the liver, heart, or pancreas.
2. Any of the venous cavities through which blood passes in various glands and organs; such as, the adrenal gland and the liver.
