A thin leafike appendage (the exopodite) of the second maxilla of decapod crustaceans.
It serves as a pumping organ to draw the water through the gill cavity.

An operative, or surgical, fixation of the scapula to the chest wall or to the spinous process (dorsal, or back, projection from the center of a vertebral arch) of the vertebrae.
