periapex
The part of the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone surrounding the apex of a tooth.
periapical
Situated near or around the apex of a tooth root.
periappendicitis
Inflammation of the tissue surrounding the vermiform appendix (wormlike intestinal diverticulum extending from the blind end of the cecum; it varies in length and ends in a blind extremity).

The cecum is a blind pouch-like commencement of the colon in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen at the end of the small intestine.

periappendicular
Adjacent to or surrounding an appendix.
periapsis
The point in an orbit that is nearest to the body being orbited or to the center of gravitational attraction.
periapt (s) (noun), periapts (pl)
1. A charm that is usually worn around the neck as protection against evil, disease, or other harmful situations: Some people wear periapts in order to prevent being seriously damaged by external conditions.
2. Etymology: From French périapte, from Greek periapton, from periaptos, "hung around": peri-, "around" + haptos, "fastened" from haptein, "to fasten, to secure".

Located around the cerebral aqueduct (channel in the brain which connects the third ventricle to the fourth ventricle); usually in reference to periaqueductal grey (region of grey matter in the brain), or some other part of the anatomy.

Around the pigmented tissue of the breast.

1. Relating to, occurring in, or being the tissues surrounding an artery.
2. Near or around an artery.

Situated around arterioles (the smallest divisions of the arteries located between the muscular arteries and the capillaries).

Situated near a joint.

1. The points in space and time in the orbits of two stars in a binary system when they are closest to each other.
2. That point, in the real or apparent orbit of one star revolving around another (double-star systems), when the former star is nearest to the other star.
