Mauisaurus
A “Maui’s lizard” from Late Cretaceous New Zealand. It was named for Maui, a Maori demi-god and hero, to indicate a plesiosaur found in New Zealand, home of the Maori people. Named by Harry Govier Seeley in 1877.
