A genus of anaerobic, gram-negative, filamentous bacteria: Members of the Leptotrichia can naturally occur in the oral cavity but can also occur in the genitourinary tract.

They consist of straight or slightly curved, nonmotile rods with one or both ends rounded or pointed, arranged frequently in pairs or long filaments.
