Anopheles
A genus of mosquitoes (family Culicidae, subfamily Anophelinae) with palpi as long as the proboscis, and spotted wings. The eggs are laid singly, with characteristic floats. In most species, the female assumes an angled posture when invading the skin. Many species are important as vectors of human and other mammalian malaria, filariasis, and some arboviral diseases.
