amplectant

1. Clasping a support; such as, amplectant tendrils.
2. An organism or organ with the ability to clasp or twine, like a tendril.

amplexation

The treatment of a fractured clavicle by an apparatus which fixes the shoulder and embraces the chest and neck.

amplexicaudate

Having the whole tail included in the interfemoral web (situated between the thighs); said of certain bats.

amplexicaul

1. Clasping the stem, as the bases of certain leaves do.
2. In botany, surrounding or embracing the stem, as the base of a leaf.

Having amplexicaul (clasping the stem) leaves.

amplexus

An embrace, especially the sexual or copulatory embrace characteristic of the mechanics of reproduction in amphibians; such as, with frogs and toads during the mating embrace when eggs are shed into the water and fertilized.

In botany, embracing the stem half way; such as, a stem.
