(Greek: same, equal, like, similar, common; one and the same)

This Greek prefix forms many scientific and other terms, often in opposition to hetero-. Don’t confuse this Greek homo- element with the Latin homo- which means “mankind”.

homatomic
Consisting of like atoms.
homeomorphous, homoeomorphous (British)
Like or similar in form and structure.
homeozoic, homoeozoic
1. Pertaining to, or including, similar forms or kinds of life; such as, homeozoic belts on the earth's surface.
2. A region or series of regions with similar fauna or fauna and flora.
homobaric
Of uniform (same) weight.
homobium
The symbiosis between a fungus and an alga in a lichen.
homocarpous
Applied to composite plants in which all the fruits arising from a flower-head are the same.
homocentric
Used to describe circles and spheres that have the same center.
homocercal
A reference to describe a fish that has a tail with two symmetrical lobes that extend beyond the end of the vertebral column, or a tail of this kind.
homocheiral, homochiral
Homochirality is a term used to refer to a group of molecules that possess the same sense of chirality.

Molecules involved are not necessarily the same compound, but similar groups are arranged in the same way around a central atom. In biology homochirality is found inside living organisms.

A reference to hands that are identical in form and turned in the same direction, as two right or two left hands
homochromous
Being of just one color.
homochronous
Occurring at the same time, age in successive generations, or at corresponding times; simultaneous.
homocladic
A reference to an anastomosis (opening created by surgical, traumatic or pathological means between two normally separate spaces or organs) between branches of the same arterial trunk or blood vessel that carries blood away from the heart.
homocytotropic
Having an affinity for cells from the same species.
homodemic
A reference to people who are of the same race.
