-cide, -cides, -cidal +

(Latin: a suffix; kill, killer; murder, to cause death, slayer; cutter; “to cut down”)

Don’t confuse this element with the another -cide that means “to cut”; although -cide, “death”, is related to -cise, -cide, “to cut down”.

aborticide (s), aborticides (pl) (nouns)
1. The killing of a fetus during an abortion or the act of destroying a fetus in the womb; feticide: "The parents were distressed because of the natural, spontaneous aborticide that had happened."

2. A drug or other chemical agent that causes the destruction of a fetus: "New research has resulted in the production of aborticides that the doctors can safely use."
acaricide
That which is destructive to mites or an agent that destroys (kills) mites or ticks.
adulticide
The killing of adult insects as opposed to larvae.
algaecide, algicide
The killing of algae; a preparation used for destroying algae.
algicide
Any substance that kills algae.
algiocide
Pain killer.
aliicide
Killing another person; murder.
amebic gangrene
Extensive destruction of the skin surrounding a draining wound, following removal of an amebic abscess of the liver.
amebicide, amoebicide; amebacide
1. A chemical agent used to kill amoebas.
2. A drug that kills amoebas: an antiameba drug. 3. Anything which kills, or is lethal, to amebae.
amicicide
The act of murdering one’s friend.
anophelicide
The killing of anopheles mosquitoes.
anthracocide
The killing of anthrax bacteria.
aphidicide, aphicide
The killing of aphids.
apicide
The killing of bees.
apricide
Slaughter of boars.
