abdominoscope
Another term for endoscope but more specifically as it applies to an examination of the abdominal cavity and its contents..
abdominoscopy, abdominoscopic
Inspection or examination of the abdominal cavity; particularly the direct examination of the abdominal organs by endoscopy; peritoneoscopy; laparoscopy.
acroscopic
Facing upwards, or to view, towards the apex (tip) of the axis on which something is borne.
actinoscopy
A former term for fluoroscopy or an X-ray machine that combines an X-ray source and a fluorescent screen to enable direct observation.
aerobioscope
An apparatus for collecting and determining the bacterial content of the air.
aerocystoscope
Another term for aerourethoscope.
aerocystoscopy
Examination of the bladder with the aerourethroscope.
aeroscope, aeroscloscope
1. An apparatus for gathering bacteria, dust, etc. from the air, for microscopic examination.
2. An instrument, usually electronic, used to count microscopic dust and other suspended matter in the air for purposes of analysis.

The differences in intensity of the light reflected from each facilitates the identification of the particles.

aeroscopy
1. The measurement of the optical properties of air.
2. The examination of air for the presence of dust or other suspended matter.
aerourethroscope
1. An apparatus for visual examination of the urethra after dilatation by air.
2. A urethroscope which distends the urethra with air for medical inspection.
aerourethroscopy
Visual examination of the urethra when distended with air by using an aerourethroscope.
agglutinoscope
Obsolete term for a magnifying glass or a simple system of lenses used to observe agglutination in vitro.
albumoscope
alethoscope
An instrument for viewing pictures by means of a lens, so as to give the objects a natural or realistic appearance.
algeoscopy
The application of pressure to detect tenderness.
