pyroclastic ground surge

The comparatively thin layer of rock of varying thickness found around a volcanic vent.

pyroclastic rock

A rock that is composed of fragmented volcanic products ejected from volcanoes during explosive activities.

pyrogenesis

1. The intrusion and extrusion of magma and its derivatives.
2. Plasma arc gasification which takes solid waste, shreds it, and then feeds it into a furnace where extreme electrical charges bring the temperature above 3,000 degrees.

One application of the word pyrogenesis is a reference to a superheating furnace that reduces trash to valuable raw materials.

pyrogenic distillation

1. The thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons in a petroleum refinery at high temperatures, high pressures, or both.
2. A cracking process that runs at high temperatures, high pressures, or both; resulting in greater yields of the light hydrocarbon components of gasoline.

pyrogenics

1. Caused by or generating heat.
2. Of or relating to solid rock formed from molten rock; igneous.

pyrogenous

Something produced under conditions involving intense heat.

pyrognomic

1. Pertaining to, of characteristics produced by, heat, especially as shown by blowpipe analysis.
2. Easily made incandescent.

pyrograph

1. To decorate or work with pyrography or a design burned into wood or leather using a heated tool.
2. A design produced by pyrography.

pyrographic

A reference to a design burned into wood or leather by using a burning tool.

pyrography

1. The act of producing drawings on wood or leather by using heated tools or a fine flame.
2. The art or technique of creating designs on wood and leather using heated tools that burn away some of the surface.

pyrogravure

Pyrography; also, a design or picture made by pyrography.

pyrolagnia

Sexual gratification derived from arson or the sight of fires.

pyrolagny

Sexual excitement accompanying pyromania.

pyrolater, pyrolator

Someone who worships fire.

pyrolatrous

1. Characterized by the worship of fire.
2. A reference to fire worship.
